Today, I am being celebrated as an academic star but it was not like this in time past. While growing, my siblings displayed great intellectual intelligence but I seemed to be the odd one out. I was not just as brilliant as my siblings were. I remember someone asking me on a particular day “Your siblings can do this and that, what can you do? "

Growing up, my relatives nursed some fears about me as I wasn’t just able to assimilate my school work. Then came Junior Secondary School and my mum threatened to take me back to primary school as I was just an average student. I found it hard to remember things and had short-term memory loss from time to time.

At that moment, I cried out to God, put in more efforts in my academics, collaborated with brilliant students so as to learn from them and improve on my academics. God indeed ordered my steps to the right associations! Like a twinkle of the eye, I started recording great improvement in my academics. In Senior Secondary School, I came out as the best student in the commercial arm of the class! University days came, and even when it seemed the challenges were springing up again, God came through for me. By the grace of God, I was able to make a G.P.A of 5.0 for five (5) semesters out of eight semesters and in 2016, I graduated with an overall C.G.P.A of 4.85 out of 5.00.

In school and out of school, I was being celebrated with awe and some even nicknamed me “professor”. Then I look back and ask myself “Is this me? The same me that was threatened to be demoted to primary school from secondary school? The same me that couldn’t assimilate things?” This can only be God. I just want to you to encourage you out there never to write yourself off! Trust in God! And watch His manifestations!
