Sometime ago we had a conversation about following God's will and it led to each and everyone of us talking about having that nudge in our spirit where we hear an instruction o a directive. Most of the time, we refer to that nudge as 'something to said to us’. Half of the time, we referred to that voice as something after we have refused to listen and we can clearly see that it was the voice of God speaking to us.

Now why do we find it hard to listen to that voice we call something? Why is it so hard? These are some questions that went through my heart while we were having this discussion. Do we fail to recognize the voice? How can be completely obedient? Someone said recently that until you realize that in every thing you do, you need the help of God, you will still not continue to listen to that voice. You will continue to assume you can do it on your own over and over again. This means total surrender, realizing each and everyday that you need the help of the holy spirit. Trust is another big issue. How’s your trust for God. Do you know that regardless of the journey, His desires for us will always be good. I listened to a message that spoke about childlike trust, the kind of trust Abraham had. The one that he knows Gods plan is always greater no matter the instruction. If you read the story of Abraham, you will see he had some 'hard' instructions from God, yet he obeyed. This kind of trust grew as he continued to walk consistently with God. He has a unique friendship with God as well.

So when next that something says to you. Listen to that voice and trust Him as a child will trust their parent. I found this charge that can help with reassuring yourself of your trust for God.

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know if I do this you will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore I will trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone
